Vladimir R (Vlad) Vasak

He has extensive experience in shred plant operations as well as the design, specification and construction of shredding facilities, having headed up more than 40 separate plant construction or upgrade projects.

Vasak has been closely involved in the evolution of the Secure Destruction industry through his Board-level involvement in NAID; having held a number of elected posts, chaired or participated in Committees, received awards and acted as speaker or panelist at industry conferences. This involvement has allowed him to build respect as well as an extensive network of industry contacts.

Vasak is an experienced business operator rather than a financial theorist. Having integrated and successfully run many Secure Destruction businesses, he is experienced in extracting maximum value and synergies from the acquired business on behalf of the buyer.

  Tasked with the ground-up development of Iron Mountain’s Secure Destruction division in North America, the division grew from US$0 to US$50 million under his direction. He developed the business model, management team, systems and operational infrastructure. Business growth came via acquisitions, establishment of greenfield start-up operations and the development of an effective sales force.

  Primary focus during this assignment was on sourcing and processing acquisitions, development of the destruction facility plant footprint, industry liaison/ representation in NAID, the industry’s trade association, as well as the initial development of the Process & Technology group.

  In this role, Vasak was tasked with strategic assignments focused on technology, equipment, facility and workflow optimization, as well as service network support. He had thought-leadership and responsibility for facility design and construction.   Vasak was instrumental in the development of the company’s go-to-market strategy and entry into the North American Secure Destruction sector. He undertook market research, compiled competitive data, developed the initial business plan and roll-out strategy and then prepared the briefing documents.
